The rise and rise of the Greens.
Since one sole Greens activist – Bob Brown – entered the Tasmanian Parliament in 1983, they’ve continued to grow in power and influence.
In 40 years they’ve gone from one member of a state parliament to 47 Senators, Federal MPs, and MPs across all State Parliaments and the ACT as of July 2024.
During those 40 years they haven’t just been a protest or minor party.
They have signed government-forming agreements with Labor at the federal level.
They have held ministerial positions in state and territory cabinets and made nation-changing decisions.
They have pushed their dangerous policy priorities by cutting one deal after another with governments as a strong crossbench block.
So why does this matter?
And why would ADVANCE be drawing attention to their great success?
Because the Greens have built their success on their image as a minor protest party who has very little power and only cares about the environment.
But while they may have started out as a protest party fighting for the environment.
They’re not who they used to be.
They are now a calculated political machine hunting for power and determined to change the face of our nation in their activist image.
And they’re doing it because they know they can scoop up votes from Aussies who aren’t interested in politics still believing the Greens are just the little guys who care about the trees.
But they’re not.
Don’t take ADVANCE’s word for it. They say it themselves.
Greens MP Max Chandler-Mather just a few years ago told Greens activists that they can use the fact that voters are disconnected to win votes.
He laid out a plan to win federal government.
The fact is that the Greens want Australians to be in the dark about their real power.
That’s how they got from one politician in the 80s to 47 today. They may have started out small and talked about the environment.
But they’re not who they used to be.
And Aussies need to know the TRUTH.
