The toxic culture of cover up in the Greens is the massive proof that they’re not who they used to be.

How could a party that was simply about caring for the environment end up drowning in scandal, coverup, and corruption?

Because the fact is if people know how truly unsafe and toxic the Greens have been to their own members and volunteers, no one would ever vote for them again.

Here’s some of the sordid lowlights from this toxic dangerous political outfit:

Former Victorian Greens Leader ran a toxic, sexist office with multiple allegations of bullying, sexism, and abuse. “The Greens don’t care what happens to women within the party. What they care about is their public image,” said one former staffer.¹
Greens rape controversy: A man at the centre of a Greens rape controversy was employed to work on Greens election campaigns despite many party members being aware of allegations he was a potential risk to women, the ABC reported.²
The ACT Greens MP accused of underage sex. An independent review into the mishandling of sexual misconduct allegations against a Greens MP has found the party should have been quicker to report the claims to police.³
‘I was shocked and afraid’: women say Greens botched their sexual misconduct complaints. Women who have complained to the Greens about sexual misconduct say the party has failed them by putting its reputation ahead of their welfare.⁴
‘They buried allegations of sexual violence’ A Greens volunteer details his experience “advocating for three women who had been mistreated, neglected, and in one instance sexually assaulted by members of the party”. He has accused Greens officials of “inaction, silencing and then public discrediting” the women who made the allegations.⁵

And these are just the tip of the iceberg.

These are women, and some men, left with trauma and anger by a party that time and again has proven it cares more about its own reputation than its members.

It’s not just that they don’t care for the environment anymore, they don’t even care about their own volunteers and members.

That’s why they’re not who they used to be.

And as long as this toxic culture of coverups continues, they never will be.
